General Computer Use Policy

Patrons must register at the Circulation Desk in order to use a desktop computer.

Patrons are allowed to use a computer for however long they need, provided that computers remain available for others to use.  In the event that all computers are in use and another patron is in need, patrons will be asked to discontinue using computers on a first on first off basis.

Anyone is allowed to use computers located in the common area.

Adults with children ages 9 and under will be assigned computers in the Children’s Room.  Adults without children will not be assigned computers in the Children’s Room under any circumstances.

Children, 12 years old and under, will have preference regarding computers located in the Children’s Room.

Young adults, ages 13 to 19, will have preference regarding computers located in the Young Adult Area.

Adults will have preference regarding computers located in the Reading Room.

The Derby Neck Library does not currently use internet filters on our computers.  As an institution providing free computer use in a public forum, use of computers implies agreement that all computer users will use good judgement.  Any use of computers to access questionable or objectionable websites constitutes cause for immediate cessation of computer use and dismissal from the building and grounds.
